1. Who I Am

Cooking with Jennifer (cookingwithjennifer.com) is a small home-cooking site run by Jennifer. When this policy says "I", "me", or "us", it means me. For any privacy question write to hello[at]cookingwithjennifer.com.

2. What I Collect

2.1 Analytics data

I use Google Analytics 4 to see which recipes get read and which don't. GA4 logs:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search query that brought you here
  • Browser type, operating system, and approximate region (country, city)
  • Events such as clicks on outbound recipe-source links and on affiliate links

Google processes this data on its servers. Advertising features and User-ID tracking are turned off. IP addresses are anonymized by default in GA4.

2.2 Voluntary contact

If you email me directly, I get your message and your reply-to address. I use that information only to write back.

3. Cookies

Two cookie categories run on the site:

  • Strictly necessary: keep navigation and search working.
  • Analytics: GA4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that measure traffic. They last about 24 months — clear your browser cookies any time to reset them.

No advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social-media trackers run here.

4. Affiliate Links

Recipe posts often link to ingredients, cookware, or appliances on Amazon and a small handful of other retailers. Those links are usually affiliate links. If you buy through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That income helps me cover hosting and ingredient testing. Affiliate links never change which equipment I recommend — if I wouldn't use it, I won't link to it.

5. Sharing With Third Parties

Three processors get involved when you visit the site:

  • Google Analytics — traffic measurement (Google LLC).
  • Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, and bot mitigation.
  • Google Cloud Storage — static asset hosting.

I do not sell personal data. There is no advertising network on this site.

6. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, Similar Laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the data I hold about you
  • Ask for data correction or deletion
  • Opt out of analytics (use a GA opt-out browser extension or block cookies)
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Email hello[at]cookingwithjennifer.com to exercise any of these rights. I reply within 30 days.

7. Retention

GA4 keeps event data for 14 months. Email correspondence stays in my mailbox as long as the conversation is active and is deleted within 12 months of the last reply unless I need it longer for a specific reason.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.

9. Updates to This Policy

I update this page when something material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top is the authoritative one. Substantial changes go live before they take effect.
